Welcome to the Hennepin Fire Department Web Page

If you don't know where Hennepin is, don't worry you are not alone. Hennepin Is located in
Putnam County, approximately 130 miles southwest of Chicago and 45 miles north of Peoria, along the
Illinois River.  Hennepin itself has a population of 750 people.  That does not include the nearby industries or the families that live in the surrounding farms and small residential developments.  If you are interested in our village's web page, you may do so by clicking below.

Village of Hennepin

Putnam County is the smallest county in the state of Illinois.  It is protected by five (5) fire departments.
Hennepin is the on the far west of the county.  To the east of us is our sister station, the Granville Fire Department, which is located in about the center of the county. Granville is also our automatic mutual aide. They respond automatically to all of our structure fires. To our southeast is McNabb Fire Department.   Which also has a web page that you can see by clicking on.  Standard Fire Department  protects the far east of the county.  And last but not least is the Magnolia Fire Department which protects the far southeast of the county.
The Hennepin Fire Department covers 30 square miles of the county.  We protect several industries,
along with residential and farmland.  If you care to find out more about these industries,
you can do so by clicking on the highlighted names.
The most noted industry is LTV Steel.
LTV Steel's Hennepin plant is the biggest producer of galvanized steel in the Tri-State area.
Illinois Power supplies power to it's customers, by burning coal in a enviromentally friendly plant.
Exolon-ESK is the world's largest producer of Silicon Carbide, which is a cutting abrasive second only to diamonds.
Air Products is the major supplier of liquid oxygen for LTV Steel. They also store about 15,000 gallons of nitrogen, oxygen, and other chemicals on their site.
Being that we are on the Illinois River, we also have three grain elevators in town. They are ADM Growmark, Consolidated Grain and Barge, and Continental Grain.
