What is ROTARY'S Youth Exchange Program?

• Rotary's Youth Exchange Program is designed to send a student for a school year abroad for the purpose of promoting international understanding and good will.
• The Program allows students to meet people their own age, to participate in their activities.
• The Program permits exchanges to live with several families and to meet people at a cross-section of economic levels.
• The exchange permits them to see the problems of people in other countries in the perspective of these people.
• The Rotary Program arranges a year's study abroad with all the advantages that it entails: a down-to-earth, common sense, common-person to common-person experience.

Who is Eligible?

• Rotary's Exchange Students should be over 15 years of age and not have turned 18 years of age at the time of departure from home.
• Applicants must have above average academic ability and must have an outgoing and pleasant personality to fit them for the role as an ambassador. They must have the ability to accept discipline and be capable of adjusting to new and strange conditions.
• Applicants must be of good character and reputation.
• Sons and daughters of Rotarians and non-Rotarians are eligible for the program. All applicants are selected solely on merit.

Rotary's Group Study Exchange

Group Study Exchange, an educational activity of The Rotary Foundation, offers a unique person-to-person opportunity for the promotion of better understanding and friendly relations among the peoples of the world. The program provides travel grants for the exchange of teams of young business and professional men between paired districts in different countries, enabling them to study the institutions and ways of life of their hosts and to develop personal acquaintances and exchange ideas. Traveling with a sense of mission derived from their desire to learn and to promote understanding, these young men bring personal knowledge of their own country to the thousands they meet while abroad. And from their study of another country...their observations of its customs, their explorations into its business and professional life, their meetings and discussions with its people..come many opportunities for development of understanding and lasting friendships.
