BPL Q&A

A:  BPL is the latest in high speed Internet access technology, delivering high speed Internet over the existing power lines at speeds of 10-30 times faster than a Dial-up modem can provide. BPL technology from IVNET allows users to access the internet from any electrical outlet in their home or office.
A: The difference between the three high speed Internet services are how you, the user, connects to the Internet. DSL uses the phone lines but it is distance sensitive from the telephone office to your location. The further away you are, the less the quality of signal and speed available. You must also have an active phone line. Cable modems use the existing Cable TV lines to deliver its broadband service. Availability is to limited areas and the service is a shared connection, thus speeds can slow down when a lot of people in the same neighborhood are using the same line. IVNet BPL uses the electrical lines and does not require the customer to have Cable or telephone service. Installation is simple because you only need to plug the modem into an electrical outlet.
A:  Residential BPL is currently 10-30 times faster than a Dial-Up Connection. Commercial service is up to 40 times faster than a Dial-up Connection.
